Amina Zoubir Bio
Amina Zoubir lives and works between Paris (France) and Algiers (Algeria). She is an artist, filmmaker and video art curator. She is graduated a Master in Theory and practice of contemporary art and new media from the University Paris 8 and a DESA in graphic design obtained in 2006 at the School of Fine Arts of Algiers. In 2010, she published her academic research on the video art of Algerian artists as a book: "Relation de l’image et du son dans la vidéo contemporaine algérienne : une expérience en temps réel" (Relation of image and sound in contemporary Algerian video: an experience in real time). She is currently pursuing her Ph.d research at the AIAC laboratory (art of images, contemporary art) at the University Paris 8.
Her videos and photographs question the notions of body language and its behavoir in urban spaces. Her video installations have been exhibited at the 3rd Biennial BY14 Yakutsk, Siberia (Russia), at the 13th Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean in Bari (Italy), at the 30th Biennale in Pontevedra (Spain) and previously at the Biennale of International Design in Saint Etienne (France). Her artistic work has been exhibited in several international events: "BY14" at the Museum of Fine Arts of Yakutsk, Siberia (Russia). She has curated video art exhibition entitled "The missing body" inviting French and Algerian artists at the French Institute of Algiers, 2014; she also brought together Algerian women artists during a programming of their films at the Espace Khiasma Les Lilas, 2013 and addressing the theme o the Body and (dis)cord: the video aesthetics of Algerian women artists (1995- 2013) resulting from her academic research; she curated the contemporary art exhibition entitled "The Algerian scene" at the Hospice Saint Charles, Rosny-sur-Seine, 2013; she was programmer for Illegal cinema # 113, the movie titled "Tahya Ya Didou" made by Mohammed Zinet, at Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers, 2013; co-curator of video art exhibition titled "Video killed the radio star" at e.Bannwarth Gallery, Paris, 2012.
